So beautiful,,,true words,,,thank you,,KC
Kenneth, you have come along ways since then 😊 and your still everyone's favorite!
"That's a Carefree Curl, not gonna make it stick on there." Anyone? Anyone?
Back when linemen looked like normal people you'd see every day, and most teams were lucky if they had one single 300lb guy.
I.was In.navy
Wow. Thank you Mike Gieseler. This is so much better quality than all of the other "Hail Flutie" videos on RUclips.
I WAS AT STRIKE AND SPARE BOWLING ALLEY....one of the few football games i remember where i was at...
I saw this live.....great time in college football, everyone rooted for Fluite!
Fuck it, Phelan down there somewhere.
This was the best birthday present I ever got. Never liked Miami, still don’t.
I'll never forget watching this game one Saturday morning in the late 90s on ESPN classic. My dad and older brother watched it with me. I didn't know about the game. I was enthralled. I thought for sure BC was going to lose. My sports knowledge at that time was limited, but not to the fact that Miami was the class of college football in the 1980s. As a hockey player growing up in suburban Boston, this game made me fall in love with the sport and I ended up playing out of pure love through high school.
The way the lighthouse answered exudes "ma'am, this is a wendy's" vibe hahaha
What a throw. Dat spiral 😮
66 yards on the fly for a guy barely 5 feet 8 inches tall. Amazing!
As a CFL fan, I got to enjoy the best years of Doug Flutie's career. NFL fans got a taste of it, but because he wasn't 6'2", he never got a legitimate shot down there. Even the Bills chose Rob Johnson, despite the fact he couldn't win a football game, over Flutie, who seemed unable to lose.
What an arm!
I am searching for info on the receiver. Did he play nfl?
Phelan was drafted by the New England Patriots in the fourth round (108th overall pick) in the 1985 NFL Draft. A knee injury prematurely cut short his professional career
Haha. Same year as hockey miracle
He STILL didn’t cover the spread though
Holding number 72 on the offense
My brother sacked Bernie Kosar in high school. It's an Al Bundy type of memory.
whats amazing he was only 12
HAIL FLUTIE!!! Kosar, you soft chump. Shake Flutue’s hand.
My high school football team played against Gerard Phelan at Archbishop Carroll in 1980 and he was one of the best players we faced all season.
...women, children and Doug Flutie first...classic
Auburn's feeling you right now Bernie.
I cant stand Floutie, not really because of this game. I mean i hated i was against Miami my favorite college football team but the game was meaningless no championship was on the line . But i really cant stand the guy because he cost the Chicago Bears a chance to repeat in 1986 ....
INSANE pass. He threw that one to the moon.
No legit Miami fan gave a “rousing ovation” to BC after their sick win.
a 4'6" guy throwing a football 130 yards into a wall of snow and hail....amazing
He was as 🏈best like Montana to Clark❤🇺🇸
Heh...I flipped the TV on just in time to see this play. Bummed I missed the rest of the game...
I watched this game from my quosant hut at Camp Page South Korea where I was stationed with the US Army. Great game and great memories.
Ahhhhhh Niiiice. My grad year & I was in the back 1/2 of my senior year in high school, grtting ready to attend UCLA in the fall. Mr & my friends that were also going with me, we're all like, "Maybe we should transfer to B.C.U🏈🏈🏈👏👏👏😁
Wow. What a stoke of luck.
I watched this as a senior in college (at OU. On TV)... so impressive! He couldn't get an NFL job (too small?!). So he ended up in the CFL playing for the Calgary Stampeders in the stadium across the road from where I grew up. By far, the best QB in the league. Then to the NFL. Size isn't that important. My favorite QB EVER!!
I was 16 years old watching this while eating my mom’s incredible cornbread dressing….
If you look at the slow mo replay one of the Boston College receivers runs right into the chest of a Miami defensive back and knocking him big time, causing him to totally miss the ball. But hey, what a great classic piece of video
The offensive line did a great job of protecting Flutie by keeping all three rushers away to give him enough time to wind up and toss a 65-yard bomb. They don't play football like this anymore with real men like Dick Butkus and Jim Brown. You see more contact in basketball and soccer.
This won Flutie the Heisman
Poor Bernie Kosar. He would have three devastating losses in four years.
A "Hail Mary" pass for the ages!
Was a freshman in high school, growing up about 35 miles north of Boston. It seemed like they played the pass about 100 times that day on the local news and nationally too. An old SNL skit suggests this is accurate.
Man oh man so awesome Just makes smile all these years later Flutie and Boston collage so awesome
It ain't ovah 'til it's ovah. One of the great plays in history.
11/23/1984, the Miracle in Miami. Best game I ever saw. You never forget where you were when you witness something like this. I believe Miami went on to win like 100 straight home games after this. Of course today it would probably be reviewed for 20 minutes and called back for holding.
Flutie spent his football career proving his critics wrong, and he did it with talent and class.
Then he went to the Chicago Bears, where quarterbacks go to die
holding...offense...79...game over. Miami wins.
